School Notes

  • What if childhood lasted long enough to matter? Children are naturally curious, and when given the time and space to explore, they develop concentration, wonder, resilience, and a lasting love of learning.
  • At Westside Waldorf, we honor this natural unfolding rather than measuring young children against conventional academic benchmarks.
  • We nurture the confidence, curiosity, and sense of self they will carry into every classroom and challenge ahead-so they enter high school not only academically prepared, but knowing who they are.
  • Nuture, Grow, Inspire.
  • This is what honoring childhood looks like at Westside Waldorf:
  • Trained Child Whisperers
  • Most teachers are trained to deliver a curriculum. Ours are trained to read a child. Our post-grad program requires inner work - meditation, artistic practice, self-reflection - because character matters as much as content. They don't just teach. They embody wisdom.
  • Earlier Isn't Better
  • Early academic pressure isn't the advantage people think. We build curiosity, concentration, and love of learning first - and it shows: our graduates outperform by high school.
  • Imagination Is Infrastructure
  • The ability to imagine what doesn't exist yet is the most durable human skill. We practice it daily, in every subject - not just art class.
  • Self-Knowledge Is the Outcome
  • Childhood here isn't prep for later - it's the point. Our graduates know who they are and how to move through hard things intact.
  • Rigor That Transfers
  • Our graduates enter high school ahead - in attention, complexity, follow-through. Built deliberately, over years.

We have two children at this school ages 4 and 7 and we could not be happier with our experience. Our children are excited about learning. The subjects are presented to them in a fun way, through stories, images, and movement. When the learning experience includes all of their senses they are so much more likely to retain it. I have never met more loving and devoted teachers and the community is warm and supportive. I can't recommend WWS enough!

Our family recently moved to Los Angeles in August 2022 and our two children, 6 and 4 yrs, joined Westside Waldorf for the new school year. This is a great school that I couldn't recommend enough. The teachers are lovely, the school grounds idyllic, and the curriculum fosters individuality, creativity, and well-rounded growth. We have noticed a remarkable change in our children's happiness and academic interest, in just a few short weeks. My son comes home reciting Chinese now which is wonderful. We highly recommend this school.
