The St. Sophia School is Charlotte's first Orthodox elementary school, providing a unique blend of Traditional, Classical, and Montessori styles of education. The mission of The St. Sophia School is to educate the whole child - academically, culturally, and spiritually - in a warm, structured, community-based environment. The St. Sophia School's graduates are thoughtful, well-rounded, capable students who value religious and cultural heritage and give back to their communities. While our values and curriculum focus on Orthodox faith and Greek traditions, we believe that non-Greek students can benefit greatly and succeed in our educational setting. Love of learning We are curious about life, the world, other people, and how things work. We see ourselves as lifelong learners. Integrated learning We look for connections across subjects to develop intellectual flexibility and a grasp of how things fit together. Faith We follow Greek Orthodox practices and teachings as a time-tested path towards abundant life, which has been passed down faithfully over thousands of years. They create a supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to grow both academically and personally.The school promotes strong values, respect, and a sense of community, which makes it stand out. Students are given the attention they need, and the smaller class environment helps build confidence and better understanding.I also appreciate how the school maintains a safe, welcoming atmosphere for all students and families.
