Safe Haven School provides a psychologically and physically safe, nurturing, therapeutic environment for children who have severe emotional disturbances, learning disabilities, autism, and/or other health impairment.
We do this by fostering each childs academic, emotional, and social growth.

Safe Haven School is a therapeutic day school designed to meet the unique needs of children and youth with internalizing behaviors, defined as negative,
problematic behaviors directed toward the self. Children who exhibit these behaviors often experience severe anxiety, depression and fear, feelings that can be
exacerbated by the sights, sounds and social dynamics of a typical school setting.Their self-harm behaviors are often the result of physical or emotional trauma,
or symptoms of a range of underlying conditions including bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Aspergers syndrome and other psychosocial
disorders.With small classrooms, differentiated instruction, and a lovingly cultivated culture of support, community and respect, Safe Haven School offers a needed
alternative for students with internalizing behaviors. When given the emotional resources they need in a safe, calm and accepting environment, students are able to
develop the confidence and coping mechanisms they need to manage their negative emotions. Safe Haven School is not a permanent placement, but rather a
temporary environment where students can go to heal, learn, and develop skills and strategies for coping with their emotional and psychological challenges.

Safe Haven has an atmosphere of kindness and acceptance. Students build self esteem and confidence as they learn to cope skills and make friends. It is a very nurturing environment.
