• Crossroads School, Inc. is an academic specialty school that directly addresses the educational needs of children with learning differences and the social/emotional needs directly occurring from them. The Crossroads student is a typical child who has one or more learning differences and is having difficulty learning in a traditional school setting.
• These diagnoses usually include: ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, expressive/receptive language disorders, processing disorders, and high functioning autism spectrum disorder.
• A large number of our student body is Twice Exceptional (gifted with a learning disability).
• Students may also struggle with the repercussions of early or non-specific cognitive dysfunction stemming from premature birth, early medical conditions, and adoption issues.

Crossroads School provides a foundation for the success of its students. "Teaching Outside of the Box" is a basic premise which supports the unique educational needs of our student body.

The Crossroads Philosophy:

The Crossroads Objective:

• Prepare students to mainstream into traditional classrooms or to attend college.
• Enable students to learn at their own rate by applying multi-level, multi-sensory teaching methods.
• Place emphasis on personal growth and development.
• Incorporate field trips as an integral part of the educational program.
• Promote learning through positive reinforcement.
• Encourage students to reach their highest level of achievement within the framework of their capabilities and talents.
• Teach students how to become "their own best expert" in advocating for themselves.

The Crossroads Classroom:

• A low teacher to student ratio of 1:8 is maintained.
• Students are grouped according to approximate chronological age.
• Within each age group, students are sub-grouped according to the skills they are learning.
• Each student has an individualized, academically complete curriculum by subject.
• Healthy interpersonal relationships are fostered.
